What is ENPAQ Gateway?
ENPAQ Gateway is a flexible and highly customizable software solution delivering comprehensive networking, security and management features. The solution is based on distributed management framework and provides a vendor neutral approach. ENPAQ Gateway leverages commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware, ensuring that enterprises benefit from the advances in computing architectures and associated costs.

What hardware do I need for ENPAQ Gateway?
ENPAQ Gateway can run on any standard x86 hardware. The base system requires a minimum of 512MB RAM, 40GB Disk Space, and a 1GHz CPU. A CD-ROM or USB port can be used for installing the software. A monitor(VGA) and keyboard (PS/2 or USB) are required during installation but not required to run the production system.

Do I have to be familiar with Linux to use ENPAQ Gateway?
No. The ENPAQ Gateway has a web based GUI that simplifies operations and configurations. Customers do not need to enter the Linux shell.

Are x86 platforms fast and reliable enough to perform networking functions?
Definitely! The x86 processors designed and manufactured by Intel, AMD, VIA and others, are some of the fastest processors available. In fact, processor clock frequency increased from 50 MHz in 1990 to 3 GHz 2006. The computer I/O bus architecture moved up from ISA at 8 MHz, 8Mbytes per second to PCI-Express at 2.5 GHz, 500Mbytes per second. Added to these significant developments is Redundant Array of Independent Drives (RAID), a way of storing the same data in different places on multiple hard disks, which enhances he mean time between failures (MTBF). Now, with significant maturity available in all these technologies, there is a way we can leverage this to create a cost-effective and reliable networking infrastructure.

Some networking systems are "specialized hardware" solutions. Why is ENPAQ Gateway different?
The specialized hardware solutions provide faster solution with an added cost. With the advanced pace of technology it may be better to use the latest and best hardware solution at cheaper cost. Appliance based software are limited to this change.

Who can install ENPAQ Gateway?
To install ENPAQ Gateway, one needs to have minimum system configuration and the latest version of ENPAQ Gateway I nstallation CD.

Install Steps:

• Insert the ENPAQ Gateway Installation CD/DVD in CD/DVD-ROM Drive.
• Set the BIOS settings of system, giving First Boot device as CD/DVD-ROM.
• Boot from ENPAQ Gateway Installation CD/DVD.
• Follow the instructions that comes during Installation. Use the TAB to change position of cursor on Installation page wherever required.
• Remove the CD/DVD from Drive when it is asked in the last of installation, and follow the final instructions for further process

Now your system is ready as ENPAQ Gateway. Follow the ENPAQ Gateway configuration guide (downloadable from ENPAQ Gateway UI by clicking on books/guides icon on top right of UI) for further configuration and usage.

What are the minimum hardware requirements to install ENPAQ Gateway?
Minimum hardware requirements for Elina Unified Gateway are:

• Processor: Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 3000+ and above.
• RAM: 512MB (DDR / DDR2 as per Motherboard support)
• HDD: 80GB (can be SATA or IDE)
• Ethernet Ports: Minimum 2 (One on board and second can be Single port PCI based Ethernet card from D-Link)

What is the browser specification to work with ENPAQ Gateway?
ENPAQ Gateway web interface works with browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and others. All the required software can be easily downloaded from Documentation section present in ENPAQ Gateway User Interface (UI).

How to figure the Ethernet ports after ENPAQ Gateway installation?
During ENPAQ Gateway Installation from CD/DVD different Ethernet cards present will be detected as different ports along with their MAC address. Here is how it works:

• The Ethernet card will be detected as Port1, if there is only one such card present in machine
• If there are more then one ports, then one of them will be detected as Port3 (with default configuration). Connect a PC/Laptop to the ENPAQ Gateway with it's IP address set in the same subnet as of Port3. Move the Ethernet cable around to different ports of the ENPAQ Gateway and try to ping. Any port that gives a successful reply will be Port3. Now Port3 of ENPAQ Gateway is detected and operational to be used as LAN. Later other detected ports canbe configured via the same process.

How to request for and upload new License?
The user needs to have proper license to run the ENPAQ Gateway software. By default, only a two week demo license is provided with the ENPAQ Gateway Software. When the demo license expires the user will be asked to upload the new license to use the software (on the web GUI). Process to upload new license:

• Mail the 16 digit unique key to support [at] elinanetworks [dot] com
• Elina team will provide a license file to the user.
• Download and save the license file on the local desktop. Upload the file on the web GUI page when prompted.

What to do if hard disk of the ENPAQ Gateway crashes?
Elina takes all safety measures for any hard disk crashes of ENPAQ Gateway. Elina values all its customers and un derstands the importance of their business data. Hence backup is taken on per day basis on Elina server for each c lient installation. Just contact Elina Support Center via phone/mail to restore all data without any delay.

Do I require using alternate DNS if I have two Internet connections?
If you have two ISP with different provider, don't enable "Alternate DNS servers" IP (under domain tab) in ENPAQ Gateway so that all the DNS request will get resolve from Public DNS server.

How do I setup PPTP to work properly?
When you are connecting to the ENPAQ Gateway via PPTP from a Windows machine remotely, the PC will use the PPTP IP address as the default GW for any network other than LAN. Here are the PPTP configurations to be set on your PC:

• Default GW should not be PPTP IP
  • Right click the PPTP interface, select Properties-> Networking Tab -> Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select properties
  • Select Advanced
  • Uncheck "Use default gateway on remote network" click OK
  • Reconnect PPTP
• Add specific route to PPTP
  • To reach your HQ LAN (for example 192.168.10.x), add the route as shown below: route add 192.168.10.0 mask 255 .255.255.0 <PPTP IP>

What is the basic requirement for PPPoE connection?
ENPAQ Gateway PPPOE mode requirements are:

• ENPAQ Gateway supports modems in Bridge mode only, which can be configured using modem's User Interface
• If connection provided by ISP is used for both Phone and Internet, then proper ADSL splitter should be used to split line between Phone and Internet
• SNR of line coming as output from modem and provided as input to ENPAQ Gateway should be high along with low attenuation

How to configure Auto DNS in ENPAQ Gateway
AutoDNS configuration:

• FQDN : jumbo.elina.elinadns.com
• Username : jumbo
• Password : jumbo321

In the ENPAQ GUI, select Network ->Network interfaces -> WAN -> enable Auto DNS and configure:

• Enable AutoDNS: yes
• Protocol: eDNS
• Server Name: members.elinadns.com
• Login ID: jumbo
• Password: jumbo321
• Method: Interface IP
• DNS Record: jumbo.elina.elinadns.com
